Shakespeare in Kabul

"Shakespeare in Kabul" chronicles a Dari-language production of "Love's Labour's Lost" that was staged in Afghanistan by Afghan actors in 2005 and 2006.

Co-authors Stephen Landrigan and Qais Akbar Omar were involved in the production. The book captures the depth of culture that underlies all Afghan life, and which is rarely reported by the media. The play was produced during a time of great optimism in Afghanistan, but would not be possible today. The authors will discuss the production, the book and the current situation in Afghanistan and where it is heading.
